Smiles

Night,

Cold, dark, blustery

Her gloved fingers,

Still frosty in dashboard warmth,

Placed in my own for comfort,

Relief

And she smiles…
And she smiles…

Loosen safety restraints - unnecessary parked in driveway
Reach to touch her cheek,

Chin,

Fingers tangle-tango through auburn hair
And she smiles…
And she smiles…

Eyes meet eyes dampened with rapture
Soak in image

And record onto high-resolution neural videotape
To ensure success of biddings of "Sweet dreams"

And she smiles…
And she smiles…

Mention word of reminiscence,
Anecdote of contemporarity,
Confession to ever-increasing astonishment,
Promise of future
And she smiles…
And she smiles…

Sigh,

Deep intaking breath of love,

Aspirate,

High-pitched whine of content,

Gravitational pull of four lips

Meet to sip slowly of the overflowing cup of ever after

And she smiles…
And she smiles…

And she smiles a smile that bursts hazy fog of fear,

Burns away amber of doubt,

Bonfire,

Nay, Fireplace:

Cozy, ablaze,

Heating bathwater bliss of cherishment

Healing hand that conquers sorrow
Lightning bolt that zaps thermonuclear electromagnetism

Into heart, mind, body, spirit

A gift…

Mandala of mouth - lips and teeth

Perfect symbol of love perfected!

Gift that unveils the beauty she'd hidden beneath mask of anguish!

Gift that speaks of endless thank yous!
Gift that offers promise of hope!
Gift that blossoms, symbolizing unity!
Gift that cradles in motherhood!
Gift that is the morning song of whippoorwills!
Gift that is moonrise by oceanside!
Gift that is summer in frozen January!
Gift that is crazy plays of youthful ways!
Gift that is music!
Gift that is dance!
Gift that is poetry!
Gift that is merriment!
Gift that is celebration!
Gift that is now!
Gift that is memory!
Gift that is future!
Gift that is foundation!
Gift that is family!
Gift that is children!
Gift that is old age!
Gift that is day!
Gift that is night!
Gift that is forever!
Gift that is patience!
Gift that is yearning!
Gift that is commitment!
Gift that is partnership!
Gift that is equality!
Gift that is homage!
Gift that is love!
Gift that is life!
Gift that is death!
Gift that is after!
Gift that is prayer!
Gift that is answer!
Gift that is Amen!
Gift that is psalm!
Gift that is blessed!
Gift that is holy!
Gift that is transcendence!
Gift that is resurrection!
Gift that is completion!
Gift that is Genesis!
Gift that is Alpha,

Omega!

Gift that is karma!
Gift that is no-self!
Gift that is enlightenment!
Gift that is yin!
Gift that is yang!
Gift that is Te!
Gift that is Tao!
Gift that is Chi!
Gift that is ohm!
Gift that is everlasting!
Gift that is all!
Gift

is!

Eyes rest at last
Vision remains in daylight,

Fullest splendor,

Never, never alone
Forever is now

And she smiles…
