XVIII. Vows
Charlie: And so, speaking of holding it together, I would ask you to join hands, and as your Friends and Loved Ones have pledged to reach out their hands to you, so must you pledge to reach your hands out to each other. The hand offered by each of you is an extension of yourselves, just as is your mutual love. Cherish the touch, for you touch not only your own life, but each other’s. Your union in marriage creates a life of its own. Be ever sensitive to its pulse, and seek always to understand and respect its rhythm. Brian and Melanie, I ask you now to join your hands together and to pledge to one another the vows that you yourselves have written for one another. Melanie: In most cases one cannot choose one’s family. Marriage is the way you and I have chosen to unite our love and become each other’s family. In recognition of the freedom to choose the person we are to wed, I promise to honor the family we are creating today by valuing our love above all else that may test it. It is you I love and you I choose to be my family, to share the rest of my life with as my husband, and to grow old with. Today as we stand before our families and loved ones, I vow to keep our love, our family, within the confines of my heart, the depths of my soul, the warmth of my being, and always show my love for the world to see. Brian: I, Brian take you, Melanie, as my wife. As your husband, I promise to love you, to honor you, to cherish you,
For life is a road where there is no map,
A road for which our marriage is a vessel to travel upon,
A road landmarked by all the glorious moments we share,
This, as your husband, I promise to you in love, for as long as I shall live. | Previous |
